Gateway for managing multiple SDO requests over a CANopen network
At eXDCi Solutions we developed our own queue management strategy to optimise data exchange between Modbus TCP and CANopen. To validate performance, we set up a lab environment with an M251 controller and two Schneider Electric ATV61 drives, also monitoring CANopen communications with a PEAK-System PCAN-USB. The result: 4 read requests and 4 write SDO requests in 30 ms, consistently. This kind of testing lets us validate not only functionality but also how our solution behaves under real communications load. 91 Modbus TCP devices communicating simultaneously with a Schneider Electric M262 PLC
At eXDCi Solutions we developed an explicit Modbus TCP messaging project to increase the communication performance and capacity of an M262 (TM262L20MESE8T). In our tests: 91 simultaneous Modbus TCP devices, 120 registers per request, an average time of <±10 ms per request/device, 984 hours of continuous operation, and the ability to make online changes without stopping the PLC. A good example of how programming and communications architecture can make the difference in an industrial application.
PME + vNode: how do you integrate an energy management system and a real-time data acquisition system without interference?
The Schneider Electric Power Monitoring Expert (PME) system manages the facility's energy data, enabling real-time visualisation and the generation of reports with historical data. The new challenge was to add vNode as a real-time data acquisition system, while keeping the existing PME system running at the same time. The difficulty lay in the communications architecture. Many devices communicate via Modbus TCP/Modbus RTU gateways, with several devices sharing the same RS485 networks. In this scenario, two systems making requests directly to the same equipment could affect communications performance. We added a Schneider Electric M580 controller as an intermediate element for data acquisition and communications management.
Launching Kit eXDCi BackupLink: a temporary continuity solution for industrial communications
When the main link fails, 2 ETIC Telecom IPL-C-100-LW routers are deployed, one at each end, establishing a VPN tunnel over the 4G/LTE mobile network, keeping industrial communications running transparently.
