Solutions
At eXDCi we develop specific solutions to address real communication and connectivity needs in industrial automation and control systems. Our solutions are built on ETIC Telecom technology, combining the capabilities of their equipment with our expertise in designing, configuring and implementing communication systems.
Three of our solutions (BeSmartOverWire, ESLynk and BackupLink) have general application across industrial settings, though we have extensive experience implementing them in control systems for water supply and sanitation networks. This experience allows us to adapt the solution to the specific characteristics of remote installations, pumping stations and other distributed infrastructure.
Alongside them is Connected Machine, a solution developed specifically for machinery manufacturers, aimed at improving maintenance, after-sales support and insight into how their installed machines are performing.

A solution developed by eXDCi Solutions that builds on ETIC Telecom's RAS equipment, designed for machine manufacturers (OEMs) and their after-sales services.
Essential data. Real value.
You don't pay to store massive amounts of data — you pay to have the key information needed to understand how the machine behaves and resolve issues.
- Faster, more efficient after-sales support: resolve many incidents without travelling, optimising resources and increasing machine uptime for the client
- Visibility in 2 minutes: a service manager can understand the machine's real situation immediately, improving warranty management and traceability

Service components
- RAS Industrial Router: ETIC Telecom hardware that collects relevant data directly from the PLC
- Secure remote access (VPN): encrypted connection to the machine via the M2Me server for remote interventions
- Option to generate customised monthly reports covering operating hours, cycles, alarms, stops and other key events, with no need to configure complex dashboards. An optional service that we develop together with each client, tailored to the specific characteristics and needs of their machine or installation.
Connected Machine vs. generic IoT
- Low complexity, not endless projects: while generic IoT requires months of development, Connected Machine is "plug & play" and delivers value within hours or days
- Predictable, scalable cost: unlike variable cloud-resource costs, the price here is fixed and based on the number of connected machines
- Focused on OEM support, not mass monitoring: the goal is to make the service team's job easier and improve the profitability of the manufacturer's warranty
Use case: support with no travel
- 1. Incident detected: the system automatically generates alarms and critical events when a fault occurs
- 2. Remote VPN access: the service technician securely connects to the machine from the office
- 3. Efficient diagnosis: the system sends a periodic report with the key information so the technician can analyse and resolve the incident remotely
Subscription model
The solution is structured around three elements, tailored to each manufacturer's needs and machine volume:
- Setup and initial study: definition of the variables, events, calculations and information relevant to each machine type
- Annual service: access to and availability of the service, support, maintenance and ongoing updates to the solution
- Connected machines: annual fee per machine, with a progressive model that lowers the cost per unit as the number of connected machines grows
Warranty Essentials
New machines fitted with an ETIC RAS router can get a year of Connected Machine included, as part of the Warranty Essentials offer.
Every manufacturer's needs are different. That's why we tailor the setup, the service and the commercial terms to the number of machines, the type of information to be gathered and the level of support required.

BeSmartOverWire
Sustainable modernisation of telecontrol systems: turns the communications copper cable you already have installed — even from over 20 years ago — into a high-availability Ethernet network, with no civil works and no need to replace it with fibre.
Common challenges in telecontrol systems
- Copper cable installations that limit bandwidth
- Limitations for deploying Ethernet networks at remote stations
- Lack of access to the data needed to optimise processes
- Cost, complexity and environmental impact of replacing copper with fibre optics
How it works
It reuses the twisted-pair copper communication cables already installed, up to 1 mm in diameter, even ones installed over 20 years ago.
Over that cable, our SHDSL-technology switches establish an Ethernet link between two points up to 13 km apart, with bandwidth of up to 15 Mbps.
Improved network availability through a ring topology with 4G routers and integrated bypass, which switches over automatically in the event of a power or cable fault.
Compatible with any PLC brand with Ethernet communication.

Key benefits for your business
- Significant savings: make the most of cabling you already have and skip costly fibre-optic investment
- Guaranteed availability: if the cabling fails, the RSTP ring automatically switches over to a 4G network
- Operational optimisation: cuts data refresh times from minutes to seconds
- Economic sustainability: eligible for funding under Spain's water-cycle digitalisation PERTE programme
- Performance guarantees: specialist technical support and continuous remote assistance
Our track record backs us up
- Consorcio de Aguas de Bilbao Bizkaia: modernisation of 60 remote pumping/reservoir/spillway stations since 2014
- Aguas del Añarbe (San Sebastián): modernisation of 40 remote stations since 2017
- Gipuzkoako Urak (Gipuzkoa): modernisation of more than 80 remote stations since 2018
- Mancomunidad de Valdizarbe (Navarre): modernisation of 18 remote stations in 2023
ESLynk
Secure wireless modernisation of telecontrol: interconnects stations that have no communication between them, or that still rely on analogue radio, with a VPN-secured Ethernet network.
Common challenges in telecontrol systems
- Analogue radio installations that limit bandwidth
- Limitations for deploying Ethernet networks at remote stations
- Lack of access to the data needed to optimise processes
- Lack of communication between stations
- Lack of spare parts for radio modems
How it works
The solution is based on ETIC Telecom's industrial 4G routers (IPL), which establish a secure, encrypted VPN connection to a dedicated VPN server (SIG). ETIC Telecom's integrated solution simplifies VPN certificate management.
All SIM cards belong to a private APN with private IP addresses, meeting cybersecurity recommendations for critical stations.
The VPN concentrator (SIG) allows connection over both Ethernet and 4G, so communications redundancy can be implemented at the central station (primary and backup channel).
Compatible with any PLC brand with Ethernet communication.

Key benefits for your business
- Significant savings when replacing analogue radio communications with digital radio
- Extended availability: the concentrator has both Ethernet and 4G interfaces, switching over automatically on failure
- Operational optimisation: cuts data refresh times from minutes to seconds
- Email/SMS alerts: the routers include a ModbusTCP server that lets the PLC or SCADA send emails and/or SMS
- Projects carried out in 2025 and 2026 have been funded under Spain's water-cycle digitalisation PERTE programme
Our track record backs us up
- Aguas del Añarbe (San Sebastián): modernisation of 53 remote stations since 2020, Movistar network
- Gipuzkoako Urak (Gipuzkoa): modernisation of more than 60 remote stations since 2020, Vodafone and Euskaltel networks
- Mancomunidad de Valdizarbe (Navarre): modernisation of 23 remote stations in 2024, Movistar network
Kit eXDCi BackupLink
In an industrial facility, a break in a communications cable or a fibre optic link can temporarily leave two areas of the facility without communication. Repairing the physical link can take hours or even days, affecting equipment monitoring, diagnostics and remote operation during that time. The eXDCi BackupLink kit provides a temporary continuity solution: when the main link fails, two ETIC Telecom IPL-C-100-LW routers are deployed, one at each end, establishing a VPN tunnel over the 4G/LTE mobile network, keeping industrial communications running transparently and without changing the configuration of the network's equipment.
Key concept
Communications remain operational while the physical link is being repaired. Once repaired, the backup is disconnected and communications are restored over the main link.
Having an eXDCi BackupLink kit on site allows communications to be quickly restored after a break in the main link. The equipment is pre-configured by eXDCi Solutions with a universal setup, so the kit can be deployed directly at the two affected ends with no need for site-specific configuration.

How it works
Under normal operation, industrial communication between the two local networks runs over the main link between switches, via SHDSL extenders (XSLAN-1400) or a fibre optic link.
If the cable or fibre breaks, the faulty link is physically disconnected and the two IPL-C-100-LW routers supplied with the kit are connected, one at each end, establishing a secure VPN tunnel over the 4G/LTE mobile network.
Communication between the two local networks continues over the same Ethernet network, with no need to change equipment configuration or IP addresses.
Solution features
- Transparent Layer 2 communication (same LAN/VLAN)
- No IP changes on the equipment
- Manual switchover: only one communication path active at a time (cable/fibre or VPN tunnel)
- Solution pre-configured by eXDCi Solutions, making it quick to deploy and simple to operate
- Keeps industrial communications running for as long as it takes to repair the physical link
- The kit can include ETIC Telecom EticSIM PRO SIM cards, our recommended option for clients who don't routinely use SIM cards for their 4G/LTE communications
- Data consumption during backup operation can be high, since the Layer 2 tunnel will carry the unicast traffic destined for the equipment at the remote end, as well as the broadcast and multicast traffic propagating through the network.
Why we recommend the professional connectivity of EticSIM PRO
Our recommendation is to use the EticSIM PRO solution included with the IPL-C-100-LW routers: it provides multi-operator 4G connectivity from any location and professional data with guaranteed QoS, to ensure the system runs as reliably as possible.
ETIC Telecom offers EticSIM PRO with Pro Data for its 4G routers, valid for both new and already-installed equipment. It's a B2B solution with guaranteed QoS, where speed depends solely on signal quality, even in environments with high user concurrency. Features:
- European regulatory compliance
- Stable performance
- Designed for critical professional applications
- Multi-operator across all of Europe. In Spain, for example, it works with Vodafone, Movistar, Orange and Xfera
What's included in the BackupLink kit
